November: Tender

Tender [ten·der]: having a soft or yielding texture : easily broken, cut, or damaged : delicate, fragile

Lately, I’ve felt all skeleton, no skin—vulnerable, exposed to the elements. There’s no hard exterior, no thick skin. Every well-meaning question, every off-handed comment seems to have the ability to bruise me, turning an unceremonious moment into a dull wound that I can’t help but press my finger into now and again, just to ensure its still there.

The reality is we are all tender in some way. This month, we are writing about the most sensitive areas. The parts of us that are broken most easily. The parts of us that feel exposed, vulnerable, and in desperate need of safe-keeping. What makes you tender and how do you care for the most tender parts of you?
