GNI: Creativity and Mental Health

5:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM CT /8:30 PM ET

Fostering creativity may feel impossible when anxiety swirls and mental health issues roar. Making art can feel so selfish–irresponsible even! But what if you could pursue your creative gifts alongside your mental health journey? Come connect with other artists over the unique and insidious ways anxiety and other mental health challenges try to block our creativity. We'll share stories, insights, challenges, and triumphs. We’ll engage in simple creative practices together and you’ll leave with tools and encouragement to jumpstart or reclaim your creative journey. Maybe it feels scary, selfish, or overwhelming, but, as Ashlee Gadd writes, we’re going to create anyway!

September GNI: Reset One More Time

10 AM PT / 12 PM CT /1 PM ET

On the home stretch of an event, athletes give their all to finish their race strong. The final part is a battle to the finish. Similarly, there is often a gap between the goals we set at the beginning of the year and the reality of feeling burnt out, making less than ideal progress, or giving up entirely to wait for a fresh start in 2025. But what if the time between now and the end of the year could be the momentum, a catalyst for the new year? Can we reset now?

Join Exhale member, Vanessa Leaver, in September for a creative discussion to map out the final quarter of the year. Take away resources to refresh your mindset, time, goals, and expectations for creative works that spark what matters to you in this season before the year ends.

Friendly Feedback: Critique to Keep Going with Adrienne Garrison

10 AM PT / 12 PM CT /1 PM ET

The writing life can be lonely and discouraging. We often desire community and feedback on our writing, but it can be vulnerable to share our work with others. In this one-hour workshop, we'll discuss how sharing our writing at various stages of the process can be part of creating a sustainable writing practice. We'll brainstorm various types of feedback and explore how even non-writers in our circle can champion us along. Participants will come away with ideas for how to process negative feedback, how to create a writing partnership that is encouraging and impactful, and why mother-writers uniquely benefit from writing in community. This is open to both Exhale and non-Exhale members!
