Podcast: Publishing for children and adults with Trillia Newbell
We have several Exhale members who have expressed interest in writing a children's book, so today, Sonya and I are joined by Trillia Newbell to discuss just that.
Trillia is the author of the kids’ book God’s Very Good Idea, a Bible study on Romans 8, If God Is For Us, as well as several nonfiction books, the most recent of which is Sacred Endurance: Finding Grace and Strength for a Lasting Faith. Her next book coming out in February is for ages 6-11 and is called Creative God, Colorful You. Her writings on issues of faith, family, and diversity have been published in the Knoxville News-Sentinel, Desiring God, True Woman, Christianity Today, and more. She has spoken at numerous conferences, churches, women’s retreats, colleges and seminaries, and she spent 7 years as the Director of Community Outreach for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission for the Southern Baptist Convention. Trillia recently accepted a position as an acquisitions editor at Moody Publishers. Trillia is married to her best friend and love, Thern, and they reside with their two children near Nashville, TN. You can find Trillia on her website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Resource mentioned:
Trillia recommends meditating on Romans 8 as we learn to endure what life throws at us.
Submission opportunity:
Trillia graciously offered to take a look at serious inquiries from members of the Exhale community. Trillia looks for authors writing devotionals, Bible studies, and Christian living books that serve the Christian church. Got a book you’d like to pitch to Trillia? Let Sonya and Abbie know by emailing hello@exhalecreativity.com. There’s no promise that Trillia will get back to you if she isn’t interested, but it might be just the connection someone needs to start their book-publishing journey.
The quote Trillia shared with you:
