Podcast: Encouragement For Your Creativity with Kristie Anyabwile
We’ve got Kristie Anyabwile with us here today to talk about what creativity has looked like for her as a woman and a mother. She’s here to encourage us in pursuing our God-given talents by sharing her own story of how she became a writer, speaker, and Bible teacher.
Kristie is editor of His Testimonies, My Heritage: Women of Color on the Word of God. She is the Associate Director of Women's Workshops for the Charles Simeon Trust, and is a founding member of The Pelican Project. She has written contributions for Held: 31 Biblical Reflections on God's Comfort and Care in the Sorrow of Miscarriage, ESV Women's Devotional Bible; Word-Filled Women's Ministry: Loving and Serving the Church; Women on Life: A Call to Love the Unborn, Unloved and Neglected; and Hospitality Matters: Reviving an Ancient Practice for Modern Missions. Her work can also be found at The Front Porch, The Gospel Coalition, Desiring God, Christianity Today, and Revive Our Hearts. She is a pastor’s wife and has been married almost 30 years. They have 3 children. You can follow her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Resources we shared with you:
Sonya and Kristie both mention Be the Bridge in our chat. C+C had Be the Bridge founder Latasha Morrison on the podcast in 2018 when she released her book by the same name.
Kristie’s prompt for you:
As you pursue your creative calling, what is one tiny step you can take right now that would help you make progress in your calling? It might be word mapping, or setting up a mini studio in your basement or closet, or making a phone call, or writing one sentence, or submitting your work someplace. What’s one small step you can take now?

A verse and quote Kristie shared with you:
“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” — Colossians 1:28-29
“Once we are aware of our fears, we are almost always capable of being more courageous than we think. Someone once told me that fear and courage are like lightning and thunder; they both start out at the same time, but the fear travels faster and arrives sooner. If we just wait a moment, the requisite courage will be along shortly.” — Lawrence Block
