Art As Therapy

Each month, we strive to produce an interview that both inspires and encourages you in your mothering and in your creativity. While we often have a writing-focus, our desire is to share across artistic mediums because we believe so strongly in the value of creativity in all forms.

The definition of therapy is a treatment intended to relieve or heal. Relieve or heal. Does this resonate with you? How many of us are looking for those exact things in our life? Relief. Healing. In Episode 68, we’re so excited to be talking with art-therapist and counselor, Lauren Daughterty about about the role of art as therapy.

Bio: Lauren is a board-certified art therapist and licensed mental health counselor with a special interest in perinatal mental health. She is currently obtaining an additional certification in perinatal mental health counseling from Postpartum Support International with hopes of helping mothers navigate postpartum, infant or child loss, infertility issues, and everything in between with grace. She and her husband, Rob have been married for 4 years, and they have a 15-month-old son, Reid. Lauren maintains a small creative practice alongside her role as a mom.
