Keep Going with Callie Feyen
In Episode 85, we talk with Coffee + Crumbs’ very own Callie Feyen. We are both long-time admirers of the dedication and stamina she brings to her creative calling, and we find her willingness to try new things and take risks to be so energizing. It’s impossible to leave a conversation with Callie not feeling encouraged or spurred on in some way. She is just so generous with her wisdom and her creative gifts, and we have both benefited from her willingness to mentor other writers.
Callie is in a season ahead of us—her daughters are both in high school—and she continues to have such a vibrant writing life. We want to know how she has kept going all this time—how she continues to make space for creativity and what motivates her to keep making space for her work. We hope this conversation will serve as a pep talk for all of us this new year. We hope it will be a gentle nudge to keep going or to get started or to believe a little more in the importance of our own creative callings.
Bio: Callie Feyen lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her husband, Jesse, and their two daughters, Hadley and Harper. She's written two books: Twirl: My Life in Stories, Writing, & Clothes, and The Teacher Diaries: Romeo and Juliet, both published by TS Poetry Press, and she has essays in Coffee + Crumbs' Magic of Motherhood book. Callie holds an MFA in creative writing from Seattle Pacific University.
