June: Snapshot

We think our life is made up of days, but really it’s made up of moments.

For June, our blog hop will be titled “Snapshot”. We want to encourage you to focus in on a single moment and practice writing both setting and scene — two things Callie covers in this CNF 101 lesson in the “Writing Resources” section of Exhale.

Pick a snapshot of your life — past or present — and write about it. You are welcome to use a photo as your inspiration and include that in your post, or write about a memory that you don’t have a photo of at all. Maybe the snapshot you want to write about didn’t actually even happen and you want to try your hand at some fiction on your blog. Perhaps you need to get your creativity out of its pandemic rut and write about something from a long time ago or the distant future. Anything goes! But see if you can’t incorporate the concepts of both setting and scene — two distinct concepts that often work together.

Abbigail Kriebs

Abbigail Kriebs calls Inkwells & Images her online home, where she writes about and photographs her everyday life as a word-lover, book-reader, and work-at-home mom. She and her family live in the middle of the woods on a road that goes nowhere, but it’s not too far from Madison, Wisconsin. Abbie is one half of the Chasing Creative podcast, eats waffles in quantities that would make Leslie Knope proud, and has a serious crush on Midwestern autumns.
