Podcast: Molly + Cara on Creating in Community
In Episode 53, we’re joined by Molly Flinkman and Cara Stolen, two of our C+C writers, to talk about the experience of creating in community. We know that humans thrive on connection, but finding your way in an online community takes a little extra effort. Molly and Cara are here to tell us why it’s worth it, how to find both friendship and feedback here in Exhale, and where to begin.
Cara is a wife, mom, bookkeeper, writer, irrigator, and trained chemist who lives on a ranch in central Washington (state). She and her husband Levi raise Black Angus beef cattle alongside their three kids: Royce, Maggie, and Reid.
Molly lives in central Iowa with her husband, Jake, and their four kids. In her former life, she taught ninth grade English, and now she stays home with her kids and writes during the margins of their busy days together. In addition to writing for Coffee + Crumbs, she has been published on Risen Motherhood, Deeply Rooted, and other online spaces. She recently created a Guided Revision video series which is available in the Exhale Marketplace and will periodically run as a half day workshop.
We love this quote Molly shared with us: "What if the thief of joy isn't comparison, as Theodore Roosevelt said, but our unwillingness to rejoice in the gifts of others?" from (A)Typical Woman by Abigail Dodds
